A bit of a cliff hanger

Posted under Diary

Dear devotees,

Please accept my best wishes. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

It’s been nearly a month since I last communicated with you. I’m sorry about the delay, but life has been very busy. The main thing I’ve been doing is trying to finish my guide book to Vrindavana town, which I hope will come out before Janmastami or Radhastami at the latest. I think it should be quite nice. Visit to Port Elizabeth, South Africa, by Gauranga Das

Posted under Diary

Sunday 11 April

Both Gurudeva and I arrived at the Durban international airport 10 minutes earlier than our scheduled rendezvous of 06h45. Gurudev had some blisters, from his skin cancer treatment, on his head, face and neck, and one on his hand that had just burst. So we got plasters and covered it. There was one devotee there who worked for the airline and decided to help Gurudev check in via a shorter queue. In the waiting lounge Gurudeva, who never wastes a minute, while setting up his email told me “its much better to travel with devotees, its much better” Gurudeva was explaining some details about travelling to Russia with him, about the different type of visa’s and cheaper flights. Navadvipa Mandala Parikrama

Posted under Diary

Dear devotees,

Please accept my best wishes. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

The GBC meetings have come and gone, and some interesting things happened. Two devotees were approved to take sannyasa – Devamrita prabhu from Chowpatty (who used to be the Temple President in Vrindavana) and Nitai Caitanya prabhu from Russia. Read the rest of this entry »

Believe it or not my nose almost stopped functioning

Posted under Diary

Dear devotees and friends,

Please accept my best wishes. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Now I’m here in Mayapur. The GBC meetings are going on and everything is very busy, but at the same time very nice.

It’s been an interesting few weeks since I last wrote to you. I had been in Siberia at the japa retreat, which was very nice. Outside it was very cold, even to the point of being minus 46, but inside it was fine. However when we went outside it was quite a shock to the system. Believe it or not my nose almost stopped functioning because the mucus in it and in the top of my sinuses froze within about a minute of going outside, which was quite an interesting experience. Apurvatam

Posted under Diary

Dear devotees,

Please accept my best wishes. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

It has been 4 weeks since I last wrote to you all, and a lot has happened in that time.

After I was in Lenasia I went to the Drakensberg Mountains between Johannesburg and Durban for a Japa Retreat with Giriraja Maharaja, who had not visited South Africa for 4 years, and Arcana Siddhi mataji from USA. It was quite an amazing experience, and I took lots of notes so I could duplicate the programme myself as I travel around. Read the rest of this entry »

SURFING THE WAVES OF MERCY IN SRI VRINDAVAN DHAM!!!

Please accept my humble obeisances.  All glories to Srila Prabhupada.  All glories to our most merciful Guru Maharaj!

I reported last from Jagganatha Puri Dham.  Our godbrother Avaduta Chandra das has covered the Sri Mayapur Dham part of the parikrama and I have the good fortune of reporting from Sri Vrindavan Dham.  I pray that I can successfully give you a glimpse of what we have been experiencing out here.

Most of us arrived in Sri Vrindavan Dham on the night of 10 November 2009. It was a long day of travelling.  We all left Sri Mayapur Dham very early and travelled in a convoy.  At the airport we saw Guru Maharaj briefly as we were on different flights.   We each had our own sets of austerities to deal with during our travels but we all eventually gathered in Sri Vrindavan Dham.
